july 4, 2012 dinner

happy fourth! these kind of look like little firecrackers, right? we made stovetop pork carnitas, out of my new favorite cookbook. (i love mel's super-specific instructions, foodie bent and goofy sense of humor - this cookbook is as entertaining to read as it is useful!) anyways, the pork shoulder turned out very tender and flavorful. we ate it on butter lettuce leaves with dollops of salsa and guac. yum!
