sunday breakfast is a delicious scramble of eggs, red chard, onions, and garlic. i added turmeric and cayenne - i used to do this scramble with tofu, and all of the flavors really work well together somehow. add to this two pork sausages from A & J meats and we're ready to hit the zoo!
we made a beeline to the family farm area to check out the new piggie on the block, the kunekune. too cute for sausage! kunekune means "fat and round" in maori, and is so fun to say. i am running out of ways to use kunekune in a sentence, but i'm not giving up yet.
it was a hot and sticky day, so the brown bear went for a refreshing dip. he kept dunking his head in and scanning from side to side for trout (his "river" is pretty well stocked), blowing bubbles as his ears rotated above the water's surface. have you ever seen a brown bear blowing bubbles underwater? it was a first for me.
