it doesn't look that appetizing, fair enough. but those are the same carrots from yesterday (minus one, eaten by a snack-seeking husband) plus noush and purple cabbage coleslaw with that amazing homemade mayo. in the middle, looking rather monochromatic and unassuming, is a lovely slab of copper river salmon, pan sauteed in grass-fed butter, with shallots, lemon juice, and herbs. the blackened bits are the caramelized shallots, and i'm happy with the outcome there.
